Question by Nicolee: Will I be given a public defender or should I hire a lawyer?
I got charged with trying to obtain a CDS (marijuana). It’s my first offense, I’m 15, no criminal record. I really don’t want to hire a lawyer for this if I don’t have to and I don’t have a lot of money to put out for a lawyer. I live in Nj. Do you think I will be given a pd by the state or should I hire a lawyer?

in the USA you are entitled to a lawyer
If you can not afford an attorney one will be appointed to you by the courts
If you can afford an attorney I would do that because with the many complaints that I have heard about PD’s is frightening.
